TS-Optics Carbon Tube Upgrade for your Skywatcher 130 mm PDS Newtonian

Equip your Newtonian with a carbon tube to increase rigidity and significantly reduce its weight

The advantages of carbon tubes over metal tubes:
We recommend the carbon tube upgrade especially for astrophotography. Focus drift caused by temperature changes due to thermal expansion of the tube is significantly reduced. Images become sharper. In addition, the carbon tube reduces weight and is also stiffer than a metal tube. This improves alignment stability.

Retrofitting your telescope:
The carbon tube is suitable for the Skywatcher 130 mm f/5 PDS Newtonian. All holes are pre-drilled. The actual conversion is very simple: just remove all parts of your telescope until you are left with the bare metal tube. Then simply install the parts into the new carbon tube. You can use the existing screws.

Please note:
The holes in the carbon tube for the spider are suitable for M6 screws. If you are using the original Skywatcher spider, we can drill the four holes for you. Please specify this when placing your order.

The carbon tube is slightly thicker than the original metal tube of the Newtonian telescope. The original tube rings can still be used, but slightly longer screws are recommended. We recommend M8x24 mm hexagon socket screws.

Carbon dust is hazardous to health. If you wish to make subsequent modifications, we recommend working outdoors and taking safety precautions such as wearing a respirator mask.
