TS-Optics 1.25" Reticle Eyepiece with 12.5 mm Focal Length - without illumination

TS Crosshair Eyepiece with 12.5 mm Focal Length

This reticle eyepiece is based on a Plössl eyepiece with a focal length of 12.5 mm. Its excellent field sharpness and comfortable viewing experience make this eyepiece a good and affordable solution. The reticle eyepiece is shipped without illumination. The opening is sealed with a piece of black electrical tape to prevent dust from entering.

Tip from TS - how to align a telescope using a crosshair eyepiece without illumination.
Most of the time, the night sky is bright enough that the black double reticle stand out against the sky. This is especially true when precisely calibrating GoTo mounts, usually during late twilight.

But if the night is very dark, you can no longer see the double reticle. In that case, a simple trick helps: defocus on a sufficiently bright star and position it directly behind the point where the crosshairs cross. The reticle stand out clearly against the defocused bright star, so precise tracking is no problem.
