Ultralight 500mm carbon RC telescope with innovative features
The telescope is the ideal instrument for observatories and ambitious amateurs.
During development, consistent care was taken to avoid the typical shortcomings of other telescope series and to achieve a high level of reliability and ease of maintenance. In addition, there are features that were previously only available in considerably more expensive telescopes or custom-made products.
Each telescope is tested on a real star. The results are documented and made available to the customer.
Features The telescope is almost completely made of carbon fiber parts (CFRP). The mirrors are of honeycomb construction. The total weight in the basic configuration is 48 kg (telescope shown: 51 kg). The separable tube facilitates transportation and assembly. The primary mirror cell can be removed together with the inner part of the back plate; the telescope does not have to be dismantled and can remain on the mount for maintenance work. The baffle tube is not attached to the primary cell, but to the focuser tilt flange. An 18-point axial bearing made of CFRP is used for the primary mirror. The primary mirror is held laterally by ?Whiffletree? lateral bearings (5 x 2 bearings). The boundary layer fans mounted on the vibration-decoupled CFRP aperture ring circulate the air in the tube, i.e. they do not bring together air masses of different temperatures. The locking mechanism of the main mirror adjustment mechanism is designed in such a way that distortion of the main mirror cell is virtually impossible. The aluminum parts of the trus tube are fitted with anti-reflective covers. The open design allows rapid temperature equalization, so there is no need for additional tube fans. The dovetail bar and accessory carriers are mounted on brackets that compensate for any differences in temperature-dependent changes in length compared to the tube. The main dovetail bar carrier can be mounted in two positions (45° offset to each other) to achieve the desired orientation of the diffraction spikes. Spikes can be completely avoided with optionally available spike masks. The dovetail of the main dovetail bar is split and has mounting positions for Losmandy and 10 micron clamps. Up to 7 optional accessory carriers (with or without dovetail bar) can be mounted. The accessory carriers are also available without cut-outs (for individual arrangement of the holes). The optional front covers (with ASCOM control) are designed to be combined with a light shroud. The vignetting at the edge of a 43 mm image circle (full-frame sensor) is approx. 12.5 %; an image circle of 35 mm diameter is vignetting-free. The image circle, which is protected from interfering light due to the placement of the aperture tubes, has a diameter of 62 mm; a full-frame sensor with a 0.7x reducer can therefore also be used. The aluminium parts can be anodized in the desired color (if technically possible).
