Recoating your telescope mirror with 97% HILUX reflective coating

Any mirror, whether new or old, can now be equipped with the high-quality 97% HILUX coating. Especially for older mirrors, whose good optical properties are known, a new coating is usually a better alternative to buying a new mirror.

The handling at Teleskop-Service:

Please make sure that the mirror is free of glue residue. We can only accept clean mirrors and of course unglued mirrors. The risk of the vacuum chamber becoming contaminated with residue on the mirror is high and then the entire batch is at risk.

Please also check the mirror surface for deep scratches before shipping, these cannot be covered by re-mirroring. If the mirror has too many scratches, it might be worth considering buying a new mirror after all.

Please send the mirror to us in a secure package. Make sure that there is at least 10-15 cm of padding between the mirror and the shipping box and that the mirror itself is well protected. We will also use your packaging for further shipment to Orion-UK, where the mirror will be re-mirrored.

Unfortunately, the processing time is not calculable. We will of course send your mirror on to Orion immediately upon receipt. However, the delivery time depends on how fast the supplier gets his vacuum chamber full. This can be fast but can also take more than half a year. So please allow some time to be on the safe side. Unfortunately, the supplier cannot give us an estimated delivery time.
