OPTEC TCF-S3 - 3" focuser with temperature compensation
Motorized focuser for heavy instrument loads.The TCF-S3 is a robust Crayford focuser with very precise components, no radial backlash and a backlash of only 0.03 mm, making it ideal for photographic applications.
A stepper motor with gearing provides a position resolution of 2.5 µm. The eyepiece focuser requires 89mm of intrafocal travel from the end of the focuser tube (measured in the center position). The travel is 25mm in 10,000 steps.
A major advantage of this system is the ability to compensate for focus drift due to temperature. For a SC telescope, for example, this can be up to 0.25mm per Kelvin temperature change. By means of the compensation, a precise holding of the focus at longer exposure times is possible.
