TS Alt-azimuth Mount and Gear Head for Observation and Photography

The mount carries instruments up to 5 kg at a weight of only 1600 grams. It is very suitable for observation, but also for photography. Unclamp the axes and you can reach any point on earth or in the sky with fast pans. As soon as you have set the target, fix the axes with the knurled screws. Fine adjustment allows you to place the subject exactly in the middle and compensate for slow movements, such as the movement of objects in the sky.

Fixing the mount to the tripod:

The mount has a flat bearing surface at the base with a 3/8" female thread. You can use it to attach the mount to any good photo tripod, but also to many astro tripods. Suitable tripods can be found in the accessories section.

The mount has a flat support surface on the instrument side with M6 and M8 female threads for attaching saddle plates and the matching dovetail bars.

We recommend the TSPKM saddle and the PSFotoDel dovetail for photographers and spotting scope owners - this allows you to attach all instruments with a 1/4" photo thread to the mount.

An optional counterweight rod can be connected to the lower plate of the mount, the appropriate internal thread is available. This rod with a diameter of 20 mm accommodates suitable counterweights. We recommend the rod for instruments weighing 4 kg or more in order to avoid excessive lateral loading of the tripod.
