Celestron GoTo Mount NexStar SE for smaller Telescopes - with Tripod and Wedge
We have often been asked for a compact and lightweight universal mount. It should offer tracking and, if possible, automatic object positioning and of course be versatile, if possible also for astrophotography. The stable and transportable NexStar GoTo mount (small) is a good solution.
Working in alt-azimuth and equatorial mode:
The alt-azimuth mode: Very useful for visual observation - the mount is set up and aligned within a few minutes, your session can start directly. The computerized tracking system keeps any celestial object inside the field of view. The equatorial mode: For astrophotography - the equatorial setup allows longer integration times without field rotation. The necessary polar alignment is done with the polar wedge integrated in the tripod.
The practical quick coupling - Vixen style:
The SE 1 has a useful GP-style saddle plate accepting all standard 2" dovetail bars (Vixen, Celestron, Skywatcher and many more). So these telescopes can be attached directly. Suitable dovetail bars can be found in the "accessories" section.
Two tripods:
In most cases you will use the steel field tripod because it is comfortable and stable. However, if you need to save space and weight, for example when travelling, the mount can also be used on the built-in table tripod.
Very powerful GoTo System:
Good and accurate tracking (works in altazimuth and equatorial mode) Database with approx. 40.000 objects Positioning at 4° per second - quiet operating noise Powerful servo motors in both axes Illuminated hand box with spiral cable, can be hooked into fork arm Particularly easy to use with SKY ALIGN (see below) The controller software can be updated via the Internet Updates and computer connection via normal mini-USB to USB cable 12 V supply voltage - many power supply options The hand controller offers multiple languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Russian. With the first start-up, it will ask you for the preferred language that then can directly be set.
Sky Align - the easy way to adjust the GoTo system:
"Sky Align" is the new alignment procedure by Celestron. It is very user friendly.
Step 1: Enter Date, Time and Location into the control box
Step 2: Point the telescope at three bright celestial objects using the arrow keys (Moon and Planets are also possible). You don´t have to know them - centering is enough!
And you´re ready! The NexStar can now point to any object that´s chosen from the data base as long as it is above the horizon.
Astrophotography with the NexStar SE1:
A special advantage of the NexStar SE 1 is the possibility of astrophotography.
With pure altazimuth mounts, even if they have tracking, only maximum exposure times of about 30 seconds can be realized. After that, an unattractive rotation of the image field can be noticed. The SE1 has a built-in polar wedge which prevents this image field rotation.
You can use the NexStar SE 1 mount equatorially in any region of the world, from the equator to 80° north and south latitude. Of course, automatic object positioning also works in equatorial mode.
This makes the NexStar SE 1 a very powerful astrophotographic platform for small astronomical telescopes and telephoto lenses. With our TS Double mount S, you can also use two instruments side by side, for example a small guiding scope and your camera with a telephoto lens.
Ideal if you want it to be very compact! The NexStar SE 1 is always ready for use when space is limited. Whether it´s a holiday in southern climes, where a little astrophotography is required, or a trip to the mountains - you don´t need heavy counterweights and still have a powerful photo platform at your disposal.
Genius help for the exact polar alignment for astrophotography Wedge-Align in equatorial mode - no more polar finder necessary! After calibrating the mount via Sky Align, go to Wedge Align. The telescope moves to the position where the North Star should be in the telescope Simply center the pole star with the azimuth and altitude adjustment of the polar wedge - and the device is already aligned.
