Skywatcher handbox with autoguider input for EQ3 mounts
Fits the Skywatcher stepper motors of the EQ3 mount - easy to plug inThe Skywatcher stepper motor controllers for EQ3 do not have an autoguider input. However, many astronomers want to do astrophotography with these compact and portable mounts and of course use an autoguider. Now you don´t have to buy an expensive GoTo controller to make your EQ3 mount fit for autoguiders. You only need a new handbox.
We recommend 0.5x as correction speed for astrophotography. With this, the motor never changes its direction of rotation in the hour axis. You will therefore have no problems with gear backlash. 2x and 16x are more for visual purposes and for centring the object.
The Skywatcher handbox with Autoguider input (ST-4 level) fits the stepper motor controllers DMDEQ3 and MDEQ3.
Connecting the handbox: Simply connect the RA motor and the DEC motor to the matching sockets, using the supplied cables. Connect the autoguider right next to it.
Power supply
