Masuyama eyepieces are known for their clear, high-contrast image and velvety black background. The good contrast of these high-end eyepieces is achieved by improved grinding and internal baffles with the best possible internal blackening. Thanks to the elaborate lens design, the eyepieces use only 5 elements with good correction at the same time.

The eyepieces were developed by the renowned optician Dr. Masuyama. Among other things, Dr. Masuyama designed an eyepiece with a focal length of 100 mm, which was used on the historic 60-inch telescope at the Mount Wilson Observatory in California. We are pleased to be able to offer you these legendary eyepieces with the latest glass and coating technology.

The Masuyama with 80 mm focal length is a completely new design that offers very good image sharpness over the entire field. With a C11 from Celestron, for example, you can achieve a real field of view of over 1.5° with the eyepiece. The full moon fits 3x into the field. The eyepiece turns a long focal length and low-light refractor into a real comet finder. Even large refractors with a focal length of 1800 mm are capable of imaging large fields with the eyepiece and the matching 3" star diagonal, thus allowing detailed observation of large celestial objects such as the Andromeda Nebula, large open star clusters or gas nebulae such as M42.

The Masuyama 80 is developed and manufactured entirely in Japan, and production quantities are limited.

If you remove the rubber-armored ring, you will find an M54x0.5 thread. We can make you a photo adapter via our special adaptation, with which you can connect the camera to the eyepiece.
