Kendrick secondary mirror heater for GSO and TS secondary mirror holders

In modern Newtonian telescopes, the secondary mirror is glued to the holder. This makes it difficult to install a heater, as the secondary mirror is often only slightly larger than the holder. Kendrick has developed a customized solution for the secondary mirror holders from GSO, which transports the heat directly to the underside of the mirror and largely prevents heating on the outside. The air in the tube does not heat up. This prevents unwanted tube seeing.

Power connection: The cable is laid along a vane of the secondary mirror spider. We recommend using matt black fabric tape or insulating tape (not included). The cables are extra thin, so there are hardly any undesirable phenomena such as strong spikes on stars. The thickness can be further reduced by gluing the supplied copper strips to the vane and soldering the (previously cut) cables to the strips.

We recommend a low setting on the controller, this should be enough to keep the secondary mirror free of dew. Only if the secondary mirror is dewed up do we recommend a higher output to free the secondary mirror from dew.
