iOptron HAE69C GoTo mount with encoder, handbox and case - mount head
With a mount head weight of 8.6 kg, it can carry a payload of 31 kg without the need for a counterweight.
Using the latest strain wave gear technology for RA and DEC movement, the HAE69s offers an unrivaled weight to payload ratio. The black anodized, all metal, CNC machined housing is not only visually appealing, but also a robust platform that will perform at the highest level for many years to come. Unique features such as an electronic friction brake and position memory allow the mount to safely stop and resume a GoTo slew or continue tracking even after an abrupt power failure (no realignment or restart required).
A HAE69 mount can be controlled from a computer, either via ASCOM/Commander for a Windows PC or a third-party INDI driver for MacOS software; a SmartPhone/tablet via iOptron Commander Lite or an app such as SkySafari; or a Raspberry Pi device via an INDI driver.
Precision encoder on the RA axis The HAE69EC has a high-precision encoder for the RA axis that provides amazing tracking accuracy, so many choose to capture images without tracking control.
iPolar, the electronic polar finder - optional The mount features the integrated iPolar electronic polar finder scope. The polar finder ensures the precise alignment of a telescope, even if the North Star is obscured.
Weight only 8.6 kg Although the load capacity is 31 kg, the mount weighs only 8.6 kg. It is very compact and easy to transport. The lighter the mount is, the more often it will be used.
No counterweights required No counterweights are required even when fully loaded. This is particularly practical for mobile observation.
Balancing unnecessary Mounts with worm gear drive are sensitive in terms of balance. The HAE69, on the other hand, does not need to be rebalanced if you change the camera, for example.
Astrophotography with the HAE69 Mounts from iOptron that are equipped with the harmonic drive system are only suitable for astrophotography if autoguiding is used. The autoguider corrects the periodic error of the mount, which would otherwise be visible on the image. Of course, the HAE69 has the ST-4 autoguiding connection. With the HAE69EC, however, it may be possible to work without the autoguider at shorter focal lengths.
Harmonic Drive A harmonic drive is used instead of a worm gear. It works almost backlash-free and requires no maintenance. As it is often used in industrial robots, it is designed to be very durable.
HEM and HAE mounts do not have GPS, but do have WiFi: The mount does not have a GPS. The location information can be easily synchronized with Commander Lite for iOS or AOS.
When developing the HEM and HAE series, iOptron weighed up between WiFi and GPS and opted for WiFi instead of GPS. When Commander or Commander Lite is in use (WiFi version ASCOM), a GPS module is unnecessary; you can simply transfer the GPS information from a smartphone to the mount/hand control. There are no problems with lack of internet, WiFi or cell phone signals in rural areas; Commander Lite can always transfer GPS information from a smartphone to the HEM/HAE mount/hand control.
