Geoptik Cooling fan for SC and Maksutov telescopes

The acclimatisation fan for Schmidt-Cassegrain (SC) or Maksutov telescopes is used to accelerate the process of bringing the primary mirror to the same temperature as the external environment, eliminating thermal turbulence for better image quality.
The fan radically changes the timing and effectiveness of acclimatisation, improving the observing experience.

Function and Use

Rapid acclimatisation: When a telescope is moved from a warm environment (e.g. indoors) to a colder one (outdoors), the primary mirror initially maintains a higher temperature. This temperature difference creates a boundary layer of turbulent warm air above the optical surface, which distorts the observed image.

Elimination of turbulence: The fan, usually located on the rear of the telescope, actively pushes air around the mirror, removing the boundary layer of warm air and promoting faster and more uniform heat exchange with the outside environment.

Better image quality: The use of the fan significantly reduces the time needed to reach thermal equilibrium, allowing you to obtain sharp and stable images sooner.

How to use:

Screw the adapter onto the body of the SC or Mak telescope.

Press the fan into the adapter.

Connect the fan cable to the power cable.

Insert the power cable into a 12 V cigarette lighter type power supply.

Generally, after one hour of operation, the mirror is already acclimatised. The acclimatisation time may vary depending on the temperature conditions from which the telescope comes.
