Especially with compact smart telescopes like the Dwarf mini, precise focus is crucial for high-quality images of deep-sky objects, planets, or star fields. The Bahtinov mask is named after its inventor, Pavel Bahtinov, and makes focusing a breeze:

Place the mask on the telescope and point it at a bright star.

When you look at a bright star, the mask produces a characteristic diffraction pattern (spikes).

Once the middle spike is positioned exactly between the two outer spikes, the focus is perfectly set.

Remove the mask from the telescope, and you can begin capturing images.
