This ring allows attaching systems with M42x1 thread (NOT T2, see below) to Nikon (D)SLR camera bodies. This bajonet ring has a lens that corrects for the slightly longer back focus of the Nikon APS-C DSLR system. So even older high-quality lenses (Carl ZEISS Jena, Praktika, Zenit) can be used.

Note: With Nikon full format DSLR (D700 and similar), this adapter unfortunately cannot be used because their bigger mirror might hit the corrector lens.

Information by Teleskop-Service: What´s the difference between T2 and M42?

These thread sizes are often confused. T2 is an M42 thread with 0.75 mm pitch; M42 is M42 with 1 mm pitch. So these threads are not compatible; trying to screw them into each other leads to blocking after approx. 1/2 turn and possibly a damaged thread.
