The price of this promotion model has been significantly lowered by Celestron. However, the NexStar 4GT offers an astonishing optical performance of its Maksutov Cassegrainian optics. Also the electronics is the most modern state of the art.

The optics:

The heart of the instrument is the powerful Masktov Cassegrainian optics of 102mm aperture and 1325mm focal length. The image is nearly as perfect as the image of a similar sized good refractor, but this reflector is much shorter.

Moon and planets are shown tack-sharp, revealing finest craters and grooves at the moon, and the Cassini Division in Saturn's rings is well within reach of this instrument.

Furthermore several hundreds of nebulae, galaxies and star clusters are visible - and they can be slewed in easily by use of the GoTo.

NexStar 4 GT XLT Vergütung
XLT coating: Using this multi-layer anti reflection coating provides the Celestron optics with a particular high transmission. In the most important wavelength range of about 500 nm, 10% more light reaches teh eyepiece. In this range the human eye has its maximum sensitivity.
Focusing: By a large knurled knob by the primary mirror. This system has large advantages: The adaption of different accesories is no problem at all. If you want to use your camera (as in the picture) or a binoviewer, there will be no trouble with focusing. Nearly every accessory will come into focus due to this wide focusing range.
NexStar 4GT Flip Mirror System

The integrated flip mirror system: The NexStar 4 offers two exit ports which are selected by turning a handsomely dimensioned button. You choose to watch with the convenience of a 90° angle or to use the straight through position - particular useful for cameras and other applications (see picture).

So you can attach a camera by an otional T2 Adapter at the straight position, while using the 90° position for an eyepiece. With one click you swap between visual and photographic use.

NexStar 4 GT Sky Align
 Sky Align - the particular easy calibration at the sky

Sky Align is the brand-new alignment method of Celestron. It is particular user friendly.

Step 1 ... insert just day, time and location into the handset.
Step 2 ... slew the scope to three bright stars (or moon or planets as they are recognized as well) . You do not even have to know the objects, just centre them and that's it.

Ready - your NexStar can be used for observation. Using relatively silent servo motors, the instrument slews to the objects you want to see.

The difference SE series

The NexStar 4GT is the predecessor of the SE telescopes. From the coating and electronics points of view, the NexStar 4GT is completely the same as the SE series model. The only relevant difference is that the NexStar 4GT tube is solidly connected to the mount, while it can be detached at the NexStar 4SE model.
