A superb filter that blocks infrared and ultraviolet light. The filter has the 1.25" filter thread on both sides. The optical quality is excellent, the surfaces are precisely polished. The filter has a dielectric coating which also improves longevity and resilience of the filter.

Application:

Webcam and CCD sensors can detect UV and IR light. However the telescope lenses, barlow lenses, image correctors etc are not corrected for light outside the visible part of the spectrum. The result of this is an image that lacks contrast and sharpness.

By using this filter you can eliminate this negative effect entirely. Whenever any lenses are between the object and the camera the filter should be used. (Telescope objective, SC corrector plate, eyepiece, barlow, image corrector...)

The filter is also recommended for solar observing with Herschel prisms, since these transmit a significant amount of UV and IR light which would damage your eyes.
