Pocket Sundial
This equatorial sundial is manufactured according to a historic predecessor, the original can be found in the Royal Observatory in Greenwich.

The ring sundial can be used on any location on earth without the help of a compass. It uses the fact that the declination (angle of the sun to the equator plane) has different values during the year. The shadow-caster, the small dot mask on the slider in the middle, can be set to the date by moving the slider. Thus the angle of the dot to inner edge of the horizontal ring matches the sun´s declination at the corresponding date. The apparent solar time can be read at the position of the projected light dot.
