Geoptik Nadirus Push-To System without Encoders for Dobsonians
Digital setting circles for all amateur astronomers who observe with a Dobsonian telescope. The motto: no more tedious searching - simply position and enjoy! Easily provide your Dobsonian with a passive pointing system Works with any telescope, whether with alt-azimuth or equatorial mount Works via Bluetooth or WiFi with Sky Safari (for iOS only WiFi) Check where the telescope is pointing on mobile phone or tablet screen with Sky Safari Let the app guide you to the objects of your choice. Uses no encoders, so easier mounting and usage
With the Geoptik Push-To-Kit, owners of Dobsonian telescopes can equip their telescope with a precise positioning system. Both Android and iOS can be used. Bluetooth is recommended for Android, WiFi for iOS.
The system itself is very simple:
The electronics box attaches either to the front of the telescope or to the back of the primary mirror cell area. We recommend Velcro strips, which are available in many stores, but we also offer a holder for the finder shoe (in the accessory recommendations).
The electronics box contains sensors to perform the orientation measurement. This is exactly like an encoder, but much more flexible, because Dobsonian telescopes use different systems for altitude adjustment and also the azimuth area offers differently well mounting possibilities.
You can see where your telescope is pointing in your Sky Safari App. Perform a 2 star alignment and you are ready to locate every desired object you can find in Sky Safari. Move to any object you desire!
A few notes about the practice
The push-to system generates a WiFi network or a Bluetooth connection. For Android users, we recommend Bluetooth, due to its better and faster respond in showing where the telescope is pointing in Sky Safari. For iOS users, the Bluetooth option is not supported, you can connect by WiFi, please only keep on mind the refresh speed of the cursor on the screen is lower than Bluetooth, so take care on how much fast you are moving the telescope.
No other software instead of Sky Safari can be used, because the push-to system contains a special protocol to connect and communicate exclusively with Sky Safari. Please note that the right version of Sky Safari is the one that contains Telescope Control option, so the free version can’t be used with the push-to system.

Testimonial from a customer
Our customer Hape Hertrich used the device on large binoculars:
"I promised you feedback on the Geoptik Push-To system on Binoptic.
Mounting was no problem with the Manfrotto Nano Clamp & smartphone holder. Setting up and connecting to Sky Safari 5 Plus went smoothly too.
As you wrote, the accuracy corresponds to that of standard encoders in mounts. But that is sufficient for my large binoculars, as I have a maximum magnification of 69x at AP 2.20 / TG 1.44°. With WideField even "only" 25x at AP 6.08 and TG 2.88°.
So I am satisfied with the solution and can recommend it for large binoculars.
Here are a few pictures of the entire combination, including the smartphone holder for star navigation.
You are more than welcome to continue using them to promote the use not only with Dobsonians.
