This is a military style red dot finder / sight which can also be found in weapons stores at much higher prices and (for astronomical use at least) inferior performance.

Baader has modified the original design to create an excellent tool for the amateur astronomer.

Quality Features of the SkySurfer V:

- The usual red "effect" coating has been removed for better transmission and therefore a brighter image.

- To further improve the transmission the glass surfaces have an anti reflective coating

- 40mm long dewcaps have been added. The dewcaps can also be removed for storage or when not needed.

- a silver body allows you to see the Skysurfer more easily during the night.

- The very fine red dot can be dimmed to a much fainter setting than most other red dot finders to avoid blinding effects.

- All optical windows are made of glass. The entire unit is waterproofed with rubber O-rings.

Practical Tip from Teleskop-Service:

Many telescopes have a standard quick release finder base in which the Skysurfer will fit directly. If your telescope does not have one the bases are available separately. You can find them under "recommended accessories".

We recommend to use the red dot finder in combination with a normal optical finderscope. The red dot finder provides a very quick orientation and helps with the more precise but less intuitive orientation through the optical viewfinder.
