Description

Antares f/6.3 SC reducer + field flattenerFocal reducer and field flattener for Schmidt Cassegrains

Schmidt Cassegrains belong to the most popular telescopes on the market. The main reason is their compact design and the good price made possible by high production numbers.

From the photographical point of view, the SC design is a compromise. The focal length is relatively long and the focal plane shows field curvature making astro photography difficult.

With additional field correctors, astro photography with good results becomes possible.

What does the f/6.3 reducer do?
Enhancing photographic speedThe f/ ratio is increased from f/10 to f/6.3 thus reducing the necessary exposure time by 60%.
Reducing the focal length Reducing the focal length widens the visible field. With this corrector, the focal length is reduced from 2000mm to 1260mm.
Field flatteningField curvature is removed - Stars become sharper at the rim of the field. The perfect distance behind the SC Thread is 85mm to the camera chip.
