Description

OPFA 2OPFA 2" - variable projection adapter - 2" connection

When lunar details and planets shall be depicted with high resolution, the focal length of the telescope is often not enough. It has to be prolonged.

A popular method to reach this aim is eyepiece prjection. Here, the magnifiying effect of the eyepiece is used for photography.

The OPFA adaptor holds the eyepiece on a defined place and connects the camera's T2 ring to the telescope mechanically solid.

Advantage of the OPFA system compared with standard adaptations:

-- consists of T2 parts that can also be used otherwise.
-- offers a variable adjustment in order to reach a fine magnification control.

-- very variable because different T2 extension rings can be used - extension rings are found in the "accessories" folder. You can use the OPFA also for compact digital cameras by using special adaptor tubes.

The OPFA 2" is very versatile concerning the telescope connection:

Many telescopes already have a direct 2" focuser or -adapter. The OPFA fits directly to it.

Examples:
-- many Newtonians and Refractors by Skywatcher and Celestron
-- Refractors and Newtonians by Bresser and Meade

For telescopes with T2 or 1.25" focuser, we offer the OPFA T2 and OPFA 1.25"; for other systems, we have special adaptors in our program.

Examples:
-- Vixen Telescopes (M36.4 or M43)
-- Takahashi Telescopes
-- Russian Objectives (M 42)... and many more

The adaptors are found in the "accessories" folder.

Which eyepieces are suitable for projection?

The OPFA accepts 1.25" eyepieces up to a diameter of 37mm. Especially orthoscopic and Plössl eyepieces of 6-15mm focal length are recommended. Find a link to suitable eyepieces in our "accessories" folder.

OPFAschemeHow is the eyepiece put in place?

The OPFA can be disassembled completely. Place your eyepiece in the focuser and lock it with the thumbscrew.
Now, screw on both T2 extension tubes and your OPFA is ready to use. By using the shifting mechnism, you can adjust the magnification. The longer the distance beteween eyepiece and camera, the bigger is the magnification.

A great range of accessories can be found in the "accessories" folder:

-- suitable projection eyepieces
-- a variety of T2 rings to adjust for the necessary projection distance
-- T2 Rings for the adaptation of your SLR camera
