Orion Optics VX Newtonian Telescopes
The new VX telescope line from Orion UK has been completely revised, now offering many advantages for obervation and astrophotography. The excellent optical quality has remained the same. The mirror substrate comes from SCHOTT and the telescopes are made in England.

Advantages and features of the Orion UK VX Newtonian telescopes:
Each telescope is supplied with an interferometer report - you can see how good your optics is
Primary and secondary mirrors have HILUX coating with 97% reflectivity for a bright and crisp image
The aluminium tube is thicker and more stable, so collimation is well kept
The new 2" Crayford focuser also offers better stability, now allowing astrophotography
Each VX Newtonian comes with a computer optimised 9-point cell for the primary

The Orion VX10L Newtonian:
With 12 kg weight, the telescope is still portable. It can still be carried by mounts like the Skywatcher EQ6 or the Celestron CGEM. With a focal ratio of f/6.3 and a secondary mirror of only 50 mm minor axis diameter (20% obstruction), the Newtonian visually offers the performance of an 8" apochromate for a fraction of the price.

We recommend this telescope to all amateur astronomers who attach importance on the best possible image on the axis. This planetary Newtonian provides a sharpness and resolution which usually is limited only by seeing. The emphasis is on visual observing and also on lunar and planetary photography. Deep-sky photography is possible, too. Due to the moderate focal ratio of 1/6.4, no coma corrector is necessary for smaller sensors up to APS-C format.

Teleskop Service even offers a carbon-fibre tube upgrade - see recommended accessories.

The surfaces of mirrors - Information from Orion UK
Manufacturing precision optical surfaces, (in this category we include both mirrors and corrector lenses), involves many specialised procedures to achieve the high degree of optical precision, some of which occasionally leave surface blemishes on the optic (mirror and/or lens).

If there are a few sleeks or scratches on the optics’ surface they in no way effect the performance of the lens or mirror either visually or photographically and cannot be considered as an acceptable reason for any complaint. Small pits are occasionally visible due to processing in the polishing and figuring process, these again cannot be accepted as reason for complaint. We endeavour to have blemish free surfaces but cannot guarantee such. Accordingly, we have set our cosmetic surface finish at a high standard production tolerance as is practical. We apply an optics industry standard to our surfaces of 80/50 scratch dig which is a measure of an acceptable level of surface blemishes per optic is acceptable.
