Celestron NexStar 5SE - 5" f/10 SC GoTo Telescope

The NexStar 5 SE from Celestron is a very fine telescope for amateur astronomers who want a compact and transportable instrument with high stability and upgradability at the same time. This telescope fulfills these requirements. The telescope can be disassembled into three separate parts, each of them is compact and very easy to transport. Within minutes, it is set up, calibrated and thus ready for observation and even astrophotography.

The advantages and features of the Celestron NexStar SE telescopes:

The new revolutionary "SkyAlign" method (image at left) allows aligning the telescope astronomically accurate within minutes, even for absolute laymen. There is no need to point the telescope north or to level the optical tube - point the telescope at three bright objects in the sky, and the telescope tells you what the objects are. You don’t need to know the names of the stars — you can even pick the moon or bright planets!

The tube can be separated from the mount. That allows easy transportand you can attach the the tube onto a strong photo tripod or another mount. The dovetail bar is standard GP/EQ5 style.

The mount adapts to your interests. With the built-in polar wedge, even astrophotography becomes possible.

The hand corrected optics offer a very good image. Contrast and sharpness convince on moon and planets, but also on nebulae and galaxies. Through the XLT coating, the image become even brigther and more brilliant.

Comforable focusing with the primary mirror: The advantage of this internal focusing is clear, you can use almost any accessory, from a focal reducer for astrophotography to a binoviewer for observing with both eyes. The problem of mirror shifting is solved through preloaded ball bearings. Even at high magnifications, the object stays in the field of view.

The mount is a true "Travel Pro" solution. The telescope can be used in table-top mode without a tripod, or it can be put on the supplied field tripod, just as you like.

With the updatable (via internet) hand controller, you have always the newest functions available.

We hardly know a telescope which is more upgradable. Regardless of whether you "only" want to observe or start with the exciting subject of astrophotography, the NexStar SE telescope will be a lifelong companion. For example, "Wedge Align" offers optimal polar alignment if you want to use the telescope in equatorial mode for long time exposures.
