An ultra lightweight guide scope for QHY5-II Series

When the pixels of guide cameras become small and QE becomes high, you may no need big guide scopes anymore. The small pixels can detect the guide error even if using a short focal length. If the focal length is reduced, the FOV becomes bigger. You can easily find a bright guide star.

QHYCCD´s new miniGuideScope is just based on this idea. QHY5L-II has 74% high QE, 4 electron readout noise and 3.75 µm small pixels. This camera was the inspiration for the short focal guide scope.

The miniGuideScope is an ultra small telescope with f=130 mm, D=30 mm and thus F4.3 focal ratio. It has no complex focal adjust system. Just rotate the front part focuser for gettting fine focal adjustment. There is a locking to fix the focuser position. When it gets into focus, you can lock it. There will be no need to focus again in future.

The miniGuideScope has sharper star points than an industrial long focal lens.

Despite the low weight, guide scope and bracket are stable metal constructions which will not noticable bend or wear out!
