TS Photoline 80 mm f/7 FPL53 Doublet Apo Refractor
The Photoline apo from TS-Optics offers a very good performance in virtually every area of observation and astrophotography. The imaging quality sets standard in this class. In the lens, the "extra low dispersion" glass FPL53 from Ohara (Japan) is used, combined with lanthanum glass. This high-quality apo element and the relaxed focal ratio of f/7 allow for an image virtually free of chromatic aberration. Through the doublet lens, a faster cooling is achieved, too.

Best mechanics ensure an outstanding imaging performance for years and success in astrophotography
Even the best optics can only be successfully used if the machanics is right. Here, savings are often made at the wrong end. This is not the case for the Photoline 80 mm f/7 apochromat.

Advantages and features at a glance:
Ball bearing mounted focuser with rack and pinion drive. The bearing is decoupled from the adjustment of the draw tube.
Oversized draw tube with 60 mm clear aperture for full illumination even at full-frame format.
1:10 dual speed transmission for ultra-precise focusing
High-quality tube with internal baffles and very good internal blackening - nodisturbing stray light
M63x1 thread (female) allows for firmly screwed adaptions for astrophotography
The dew shield can be retracted - then, the transportation length is only 46 centimetres
Multi-coated state-of-the-art two element lens with FPL53 as APO element and lanthanum glass as second element
High-quality CNC rings and GP style dovetail bar with photo thread

Astrophotography with the TSAPO80F7
The Photoline SD-APO 80 mm f/7 is suited for astrophotography without any restrictions, but, as with every fast refractor, the field has to be corrected for obtaining perfectly round stars at the edge. We offer the following possibilites, the correctors are linked in the "recommended accessories" section:
TSFlat25DEL - universal 2.5" field corrector without focal length change: The corrector is suitable for all sensors up to full format. The corrector is screwed directly to the M63x1 female thread of the focuser. The working distance from the M48 connection thread to the camera sensor is 65 mm. If you are using a camera with 55 mm flange focal distance, such as an SLR with T-ring, you will still need a 10 mm M48 extension # TSVF210.
TSREDJM63S - 0.8x image field corrector with focal length reduction: The corrector reduces the focal length to 448 mm and improves the focal ratio to f/5.6. The corrector is directly screwed to the M63x1 female thread of the focuser. The working distance from the M48 thread to the sensor is 57.6 mm. If you use a camera with 55 mm flange focal distance (distance from the connection thread to the sensor), then simply turn the fine adjustment out by 2.6 mm and you have the perfect distance. There is no need for an adapter battle.

Image result of our customer Lothar Scherp

Objekts: M35 and NGC2158 (image detail)
Telescope: TSAPO80F7
Flattener: TS-Optics
Camera: Canon EOS 80D
Sensitivity: 800 ASA
Exposure: 11x 35 s
Filter: none
Mount: Skywatcher EQ6 Pro (from set C9NEQ6Goto)
Guiding: none
Original review: "The small refractor delivers very sharp stars over the whole image and high magnifications of image sections are no problem. I have included an image section of M35 as an example.
NGC2158 is nicely resolved and the double star ADS4744 is cleanly separated. All my images so far have been taken without guiding and without filters using the Canon EOS 80d."

Many thanks to Lothar Scherp for this very informative photo and short report!
