GSO Superview 42 mm ERFLE eyepiece, 2"
This 5 element rich-field eyepiece in Erfle design offers good field definition, a wide field of view and a comfortable viewing position. Its quality coatings prevent reflexions and lead to a bright image.

It is recommended for slower systems like RC, ACF, Schmidt-Cassegrain and EHD telescopes and Achromats from f/6 and longer

With its apparent field of view of 60°, even larger nebulae become visisble. A 150/1200 mm telescope with this eyepiece has a magnification of 29x and a true field of view of more than 2° - this is four times the diameter of the moon!

Further advantages:
Fully multi-coated (FMC)
Blackened lens edges
Long eye relief
2" filter thread

Focal length:42 mm
AFOV:60°
Field stop diameter:47 mm
Coatings:FMC
Eye relief:34 mm
Optical design:Erfle (5 elements in 3 groups)

Ein Vergleichstest (im Bild v.l.n.r): WILD 30, Panoptik 27, WA Erfle 42
Just as important as the transmission is the inner blackening of the eyepieces. Bright inner surfaces reduce the contrast and make the image look dull. Only with a well thought-out design and good blackening can STreulicht be avoided and a good image be achieved.

Test procedure
The eyepieces are placed on a dark surface under uniform ambient lighting (daylight). At an angle of about 45°, the surface of the front lens is viewed. The brighter this surface is, the more stray light is produced inside the eyepiece.

The eyepiece on the left (WILD 30) shows a lot of stray light. Compared to the other two eyepieces, the image will be brighter and have less contrast. The result of this simple test is confirmed by observation.

The considerably higher price of the TeleVue eyepiece is nevertheless justified, as it offers a number of special features. For example, it can be used on extremely fast telescopes without loss of sharpness.
