Adjustment of focal length to sea-ing conditions or for observation of the whole solar disk

SolarSpectrum H-alpha filters

require parallel light with a beam path of at least f/30, which is achieved by extending the focal length with our telecentric systems (and, if necessary, additionally by stopping down the objective with the iris diaphragm). Due to the focal length extension, the complete sun is no longer visually visible with many telescopes when using eyepieces with f = 30 to 35 mm.

The SolarSpectrum telecompressor

... is mounted directly on the filter on the eyepiece side and reduces the previously extended focal length by a factor of 0.7 with the result that the entire solar disk with prominences is now visible again.
For photographic or webcam applications, the telecompressor is used to adjust the focal length to poor seeing conditions and/or to enlarge the field of view.

The 2" universal flange is used to mount the telecompressor; it is screwed directly onto the filter housing with four screws (see illustration at right), and the telecompressor is then screwed directly into the 2" thread in the universal flange. The output thread of the compressor is also a 2" male thread. If required, this can be converted to either a T2 female or male thread using parts from our T2 accessory system.
