The UNC Newton series from Teleskop-Service offers an alternative to the Far East Newtons
With these telescopes you do not have to make any compromises. UNC stands for Universal Newton Telescopes with carbon tube. Each UNC Newton is individually manufactured for you and optimized according to your wishes - a telescope
Made in Germany!.
The 8" f/6 UNC Newtonian is a specialist for moon and planets but also good for deep-sky observing. The Zero-Expansion fused quarz mirror gives the best performance from the begin. We suggest the well known Skywatcher EQ5 or the very stable Celestron Advanced VX as mount for this telescope.
Astrophotography with small sensors up to 22mm diameter is even possible without a coma corrector. Deep sky images with high detail resolution, which are otherwise only known from APOs, are coming within your reach. The secondary mirror offers a 100% illumination of 19mm. With flats, sensors up to APS-C format can be used.
TS UNC Newtonian advantages:
♦ High quality carbon fibre tube, individually manufactured in Germany
♦ Optimized focus position according to customer´s demands for best field illumination
♦ Main and secondary mirror cell improved by Teleskop Service
♦ Easy collimation without tools
♦ Blackened secondary mirror edges
♦ TS UNCN2 2" Crayford focuser - one of the best systems in its class
♦ Secondary mounted with correct offset
♦ Diffraction limited system
Antireflex-paint for maximum contrastFor our UNC Newtons the TS "Black" anti-reflective paint is used. It darkens the tube interior just as well as velour foil. The big advantage besides a lower weight is that the paint hardly attracts dust. The optics remain clean. With velour film, dust collects very quickly at the main mirror.
The picture on the left shows how dark the anti-reflective color appears. The diagram (above) shows a direct comparison between blackboard paint and antireflection paint.
Focus position optimized for astrophotography:
The focus point is 60 mm above the 2" receptacle with the focuser retracted. This position is optimal for all coma correctors with 55 mm working distance, such as the Baader MPCC corrector, the TS Coma Corrector or the GPU corrector. You can also use the 2" Paracorr. For visual observation you need a 2" extension tube - item # TSV235.
The 2" TS UNCN2 Crayford focuser:
A core piece of the TS UNC Newtonians is the modern TS UNCN2 focuser. The focuser extends only 50 mm from the edge of the tube and still carries heavy cameras and accessories without tilting.
♦ High rigidity with extremely short overall length
♦ exact 1:10 dual-speed reduction - with it perfectly focused astrophotographs are possible
♦ Upgradable with motor focus - with the TS motor focus advantage: manual adjustment possible with attached focuser
♦ Accessories can be screwed on - the focuser is already supplied with the 65 mm connection thread
More information about the focuser UNCN2Parabolic primary mirror:
Newtonian primary mirrors made of fused silica are free of strain and provide an image that is usually even much better than diffraction limited. The surface is coated with an enhanced 94% reflection layer and a protective quartz layer. The primary mirror has a central marking as an adjustment aid.
Every TS Carbon Newtonian is tested on our optical bench before shipping:
You are not buying a "pig in a poke" when you buy a UNC Newtonian from TS, but a solid telescope for life. After assembly, we subject each UNC Newtonian to an optical test in our workshop before shipping. This ensures that the telescope will fit your accessories perfectly and will deliver the optical performance we promise.
Additional focus positions and change of secondary mirror diameter:
The focus position No. 1 with 60mm above the 2" socket has proven to be very versatile. Nevertheless, we can also offer you individual focus positions and other secondary mirror sizes at no extra charge:
♦ Focus position No. 2: 30mm above the 2" connection - optimal for visual observation. The secondary mirror can be slightly smaller, we recommend a secondary mirror with 63mm (small axis)
♦ Focus position no. 3: 90mm above the 2" connection - this allows you to use the TS2KORRR 0.73x reducer/corrector and change the focal ratio from f/4 to f/2.9. The combination is then designed for cameras up to APS-C format. We recommend the secondary mirror with 70mm (small axis).
Order of the special versions in the Shop:On the last page of the order process, where you can complete the order, you have a text field. Here you simply copy the desired focus position into it. Please note that this is then a special version with delivery time.
Assembly and collimation instructions
The telescope is delivered disassembled into several units for safety. The assembly and adjustment are not complicated, you can download the instructions in advance. The PDF can be found
