One of the best Newtonian coma correctors we know:

Developed in 2010, this model can make an f/3 mirror act like an f/12 without a Paracorr. Mount your DSLR or CCD camera for imaging, and the quality of full frame photos will be spectacular since star image sizes on image plane can be less than .001" over the full frame for an f/4.5 mirror.

Edge-of-field sharpness is further enhanced since Paracorr also acts as a field-flattener

The Paracorr Type 2 allows separating the optical assembly from the Tunable Top and using it with Tele Vue imaging system components to permit use with SLR and CCD cameras. APS size formats 27 mm diameter are recommended to minimize field vignetting. Ideal for mirrors as fast as f/3.

Paracorr is designed to work properly only with parabolic mirrors in Newtonian or Dobsonian telescopes. You must adjust distance from last lens surface to imaging plane to 55 mm ±4 mm for best performance.

The Paracorr extends the focal length by 1.15 and shifts the focus 46 mm outwards - 46 mm additional back focus are very helpful for photography with a Newtonian with short focal position.

Often when using a CCD camera with a distance of around 17-23 mm from chip to the T2-thread, we are able to put our ultra-short 9 mm off-axis guider TSOAG9 in between and still keep the required distances!

Visual use:

All Newtonian / Dobsonian telescopes can benefit from using a Tele Vue Paracorr (Parabola Corrector) to eliminate coma in the image. One aspect to optimizing this correction is the distance of the eyepieces focus point (field stop location) to the last surface of the Paracorr lens (within a small +/- tolerance of course). Typical eyepieces used with fast Newtonians can have field stop locations differing by as much as half an inch. To accommodate for the differences, Tele Vue developed the "Tunable Top."

The "Tunable Top" permits optimized aberration control for all Tele Vue eyepieces and many others, by simply loosening a screw and rotating the Tunable Top. The eyepiece barrel height raises and lowers, allowing you to maintain the proper field stop to Paracorr lens distance.

Advantages:
The Televue Paracorr with Tunable Top was designed for fast focal ratio Newtonian telescopes with 2" focusers..
Eyepiece interfaces have non-marring brass clamp rings.
The Televue Paracorr permits optimized aberration control for all Televue eyepieces and many others.
