TS-Optics Adapter for Eyepiece Projection and Focal Photography - 2" Connection

The Deluxe Projection Adaptor is a particularly high quality solution for all telescopes with 2" focuser.

It also accepts 1.25" eyepieces with large diameters up to 45 mm, such as Super Plössls with 32 mm focal length or wide-angle eyepieces. These eyepieces are too thick for other projection adapters.

Advantages of the TS VPA 2:

You can use almost all 1.25" eyepieces, in particular those with a slightly larger body than normal.

The T2 adaptation can be extended for fine-tuning of the projection distance, thus resulting in a "Zoom Effect".

The eyepiece can be locked with two locking screws that tighten a compression ring, that prevents from tilting.

The individual components of this adaptor have a lot of additional applications.

The TS VPA 2 consists of the following components, see image 2:

Adapter from 2" to 1.25" with integrated T2 thread and compression ring - eyepiece adapter

Adapter from T2 to 2" with robust compression ring - alloes you to attach 2" accessories to T2

Adapter from 2" to T2 for using T2 accessories with 2" focusers - 2" focal adapter

Note: The adapter 2"-T2 has, in contrast to the images, a smooth barrel without locking groove.

Assembly of the projection adapter, order of the individual parts see image 3:

Step 1:

Screw the adapter T2-2" (image 2, middle) onto the eyepiece adapter 2"-1.25"-T2 (image 2, left). The result then corresponds to image 4.

Step 2:

Insert the projection eyepiece and lock it with the two screws of the eyepiece adapter. The result then corresponds to image 5.

Step 3:

Slide the focal adapter 2"-T2 (image 2, right) over the eyepiece and clamp the adapter at the desired distance with the adapter T2-2". The result then corresponds to image 6.

Practical tips from Teleskop-Service

Classical Projection Photography with cameras without lens:
With any given projection eyepiece the zoom factor is increased with growing distance between the eyepiece and the camera´s sensor. We recommend to avoid extremes: A too short distance might cause vignetting towards the edge and reduce image quality, a too big distance will render a too high magnification. We recommend projection eyepieces between 9 mm and 15 mm focal length.

Afocal imaging with compact digital cameras with lens:
For this kind of photography the camera´s lens needs to be moved as closely as possible to the exit lens of the eyepiece. The eyepiece needs to have as large as possible exit lens diameter. Both factors combined will optimize the field illumination. We will be happy to provide you with information about particularly recommendable eyepieces.

Tip for using the eyepiece:
If your eyepiece has a rubber eyeguard we recommend to remove this eyeguard. Often this allows to move the T2 thread closer to the eyepiece.
