Orion UK Carbon Newtonian CT16 - 400 mm F/4 - Deluxe version
Extreme lightweight and stable carbon sandwich tube

Newtonian telescopes from Orion UK are known for their uncompromisingly good mirror quality and lightweight construction. Orion continues this consistent product policy and with the CT Newtons also offers an interesting alternative for star enthusiasts who place the highest value on rigidity and still need a lightweight telescope. The carbon tube of the telescopes fulfils these requirements.

The resolving power of these telescopes has to be seen to be believed, we guarantee that comparing one of these instruments with any other telescope of the same aperture, you are going to have available images which outperform others in both detail and contrast, perfect partners in getting that last bit of detail out of a planet’s disc or, finally seeing that incredibly small lunar crater inside the much larger one.

Interferogram
Each CT telescope is being supplied exactly the telescope´s optical specification, you will pe presented with a ZYGO report with analyses of the mirror´s paramaters in detail.

Carbon tube
The CT Range has a Sandwich construction Carbon Fibre tube with a very pleasing gloss external surface and matt black internal tube surface. Offering the ultimate physical stability with virtually zero expansion for focal plane maintenance.

The rear mirror support is our 9 Point Flotation CNC machined Mirror Cell. This maintains positional acuracy and hence perfect image quality. Also at the rear, our Fan cooling system will minimise cool down times and help maintain image quality during viewing. Fan(s) can be left in continuous operation.

Rings
Both sides of the rings are flat with inside M6 threads. So You can attach numerous accessories.

The surfaces of mirrors - Information from Orion UK
Manufacturing precision optical surfaces, (in this category we include both mirrors and corrector lenses), involves many specialised procedures to achieve the high degree of optical precision, some of which occasionally leave surface blemishes on the optic (mirror and/or lens).

If there are a few sleeks or scratches on the optics’ surface they in no way effect the performance of the lens or mirror either visually or photographically and cannot be considered as an acceptable reason for any complaint. Small pits are occasionally visible due to processing in the polishing and figuring process, these again cannot be accepted as reason for complaint. We endeavour to have blemish free surfaces but cannot guarantee such. Accordingly, we have set our cosmetic surface finish at a high standard production tolerance as is practical. We apply an optics industry standard to our surfaces of 80/50 scratch dig which is a measure of an acceptable level of surface blemishes per optic is acceptable.
