The Mark V Binocular,
the fifth new edition of the former Carl Zeiss wide field binocular, is extremely elaborately designed with 30mm prisms.

The equipment ranges from 7-layer multilayer antireflection coatings on all glass air surfaces, to a high-performance beam splitter with dielectric splitter layer, to self-centering eyepiece quick clamps (without locking screws!), as known from mechanical engineering for the tool holders of CNC milling machines.

Microfocusing rings on both eyepiece tubes allow fine diopter adjustment essential for binocular vision, for any eye power.

Thanks to the extreme 1:10 power ratio, any 1.25" eyepiece can be securely clamped to the Click-Lock® adjustment ring with a slight 20° turn, and released just as easily and quickly. Even a slight turn provides the same force as a vigorously tightened clamping screw would otherwise.

Spherical aberration correctors are available for the Mark V binoculars. They are designed to eliminate any residual chromatic aberration (chromatic aberration) caused by the long glass path in the binoculars or by the highly convergent optical path in short focal length telescope systems when used with extremely short focal length refractors or reflecting telescopes (focal ratio 1:4 to 1:7).

As a further advantage, all correctors shift the focal point outwards to varying degrees - similar to a Barlow lens - so that you can attach your Mark V binocular to literally any telescope. Only when used with long focal length Schmidt-Cassegrain (SC) telescopes is it possible to avoid using a glass path corrector because the optical path is not as convergent. However, the mode of operation of these glass path correctors for focal length extension with different extension factors is also interesting on the SC telescope. You will also notice a gain in sharpness with SC and HD optics.

These "chromatic aberration correction lenses" are an important addition to your binoculars. The quirky mount of the three models with clamping collars serves the purpose of being able to "clamp" the lens system between any T-2 screw mount. This allows these lens systems to be accommodated on all telescopes and at different locations in the beam path, and you can achieve different projection distances.

The Mark V wide field binocular is manufactured in Germany according to the strict quality criteria of Carl Zeiss. The optical polishing of the prism surfaces, all coatings and last but not least the optical alignment and orthogonality of the 30mm prisms is so called, that even at highest magnifications no image degradation occurs. Each Mark V is tested and collimated at 1000x magnification on a Carl Zeiss optical bench.

"Ich verwende den Grossfeldbino mit ein Mewlon 250. Brauchte um den Fokus zu erreichen ein Glasweg Korrektor. Die Bino funktioniert einwandfrei. Produkt Qualität ist sehr gut. "

"Keine feine Fokussierung der einzelnen Okulare moeglich, nur der Anachlag laesst sich einstellen, sowas ist auch bei den billigen Binoaufseatze moeglich! Sonst optische Qualitaet super, deshalb geht nicht zurueck ;)"
