TS-Optics 1.25" Photosphere Filter, 10 nm Bandwidth

This narrowband filter transmits only light around 540 nm wavelength and in a small range of 10 nm.

Why to use a photosphere filter?

As we know, when doing solar photosphere imaging, we usually use a Herschel wedge to get best contrast, maybe add an IR685 filter to improve seeing condition. But it’s not the best way to shoot the photosphere.

The photosphere has best detail and contrast at almost 540 nm, so, with this 10 nm photosphere filter, you will be able to get some impressive solar granulation and sunspot details like the ones shown in the images above.

As the filter uses high quality optical glass substrate and multi-layer composite coating technology, resulting in excellent optical performance in astrophotography or observing.

Note: In a color camera with the usual Bayer sensor, only half of the pixels are really used because those sensitive to blue or red light hardly react to the wavelengths transmitted by the filter. If possible, it is better to use a monochrome camera.

Hazard Note

The telescope MUST be equipped with a lens sun filter or Herschel wedge as well as a neutral density filter if necessary.
Failure to do so will IRREPARABLY DAMAGE the camera and possibly other equipment or your eyes!
NEVER use ONLY the photosphere filter!
