Particularly in our latitudes, the secondary mirrors of Newtonian telescopes and Dobson telescopes fog up very easily. This can be prevented by a suitable secondary mirror heater. These Kendrick heaters are suitable for secondary mirrors which are glued. Since the heater is in direct contact with the back of the secondary mirror, the heating output is very efficient. You will be able to prevent dew with a minimum power.

The secondary mirror heater is simply attached to the back of the secondary mirror with a universal adhesive. The holder on which the secondary mirror is glued must of course be smaller than the secondary mirror.

Practical tip from Teleskop-Service:

Since the heat is emitted directly to the secondary mirror, we recommend setting a very low output, which is usually sufficient to keep the secondary mirror free of dew. Only when the secondary mirror is full of dew should you increase the power to remove moisture from the secondary mirror.

Insulation of the exposed part of the heater by foam or sponge rubber additionally reduces heat dissipation to the environment.

Installation:

The attachment of the elastic heating mat to the secondary mirror is simple. The cables are very thin and can be routed outwards along a secondary mirror spider vane so that they have no negative influence on the star image (spikes).
