Starizona 0.4x Reducer and Corrector for SC Telescopes
The new Starizona Night Owl 0.4x-SCT-reducer/corrector creates a very well corrected image field and improves the aperture ratio of your Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope from f/10 to f/4 (C14 from f/11 to f/4.4). This makes deep-sky photography with astro cameras possible. The 0.4x reduction factor increases the photographic field of view by 2.5x and reduces the exposure time by 6.25x. So if you had to expose for 20 minutes, an exposure time of just over 3 minutes is enough for a comparable result.

The optimally corrected and illuminated image field has a diameter of 16 mm. We therefore recommend the corrector for cameras up to max. 20 mm sensor diameter. With larger sensors the edge must be cut off, since the correction and illumination are no longer optimal.

The Night Owl 0.4x Reducer uses a 4-element design for optimal correction. The working distance from the T2 thread is 38.5 mm, so you can use all common CMOS and CCD astro cameras. There is also space for a filter drawer.

The housing of the Night Owl has exactly 2" diameter, so it fits directly into a 2" receptacle. We always recommend the combination with a good Crayford focuser for Schmidt-Cassegrains, because this makes focusing much easier than with primary mirror focusing.

Application tip from Teleskope-Service
Always use the Night Owl with a Crayford eyepiece extension. This allows you to focus much more precisely and comfortably. We recommend the following procedure:
Use the primary mirror focusing of the SC to focus roughly. Finally, turn the focusing knob counterclockwise so that the primary mirror rests on the focusing mechanism and can no longer slip (shifting).
Now adjust the sharpness exactly with the fine adjustment of the Crayford focuser. The result will convince you.

Question:
How do you have to measure the working distance?

Answer from Teleskop-Service:
The working distance is measured from the beginning of the connection thread on the housing of the corrector (see example picture):
