TS 2" Dual-Speed Crayford Focuser for Newtonian Telescopes

The Newtonian focuser is well suited for observation and astrophotography with DSLR or astro cameras. We recommend the focuser for accessories up to approx. 2 kg. The focuser is also often bought for the self construction of Newtonian telescopes or for the improvement of existing telescopes.

The 1:10 dual-speed micro-reduction significantly improves focusing. Particularly in astrophotography, sharper images are possible because the focus is precisely reached. But observation also becomes easier, as you know exactly when optimum sharpness has been achieved.

Attaching the focuser to the tube
The focuser has a conical dovetail ring with a diameter of roughly 78 mm on the bottom side. The focuser fits directly to the different bases. So you can easily adapt the focuser to your tube.

Question:
What´s the best way to adjust a Crayford focuser?

Answer from Teleskop-Service:
The eyepiece extension has two knurled screws at the base between the two rotary handles. With these you can adjust the eyepiece extension.

♦ The screw on the eyepiece side is for adjusting the friction (grip).
♦ The screw on the tube side is for locking the focuser position.

1. Insert the eyepiece and possibly the star diagonal into the focuser so that the focuser is under load.

2. Loosen the screw on the telescope tube side (locking).

3. Now tighten the screw on the eyepiece side just enough to prevent the focuser from slipping when the eyepiece is pointing downwards (maximum load).

With this you have optimally adjusted your Crayford focuser for observation and of course also for photography..
