Triton Az head

TRITON AZ with tripod and spotting scope
(Tripod and spotting scope not included)
TRITON AZ field version - alt/azimuthal mount with field tripod

The TRITON AZ is one of the most versatile mounts we know. It carries loads up to ca. 4 kg and allows adjustments from the horizont up to the zenith.

Manual fine controls:
Additionally, the Triton Az offers a precise fine control with worm gears. You can center any object even with stronger magnification. You can also follow an object comfortably - e.g. a ship on the sea or the stars across the sky.

Useful fast coupling system:
Within seconds, you can connect and disconnect your binocular, spotting scope etc. with/from the TRAZ head. Find fitting prism rails in the "accessories" section.

Connection to photo tripods:
The TRITON head has a female 3/8" thread in its base. This thread is supported by most of the bigger photo tripods.

Scope of delivery:
The Triton Az head comes with the 3/8" tripod connection and a Vixen-style dovetail rail holder. Find suitable dovettail rails in the "accessories" section.
TRAZVery useful: Free flip range from the horizon up to the zenith
One special advantage of the Triton Az is that it can be flipped into any direction. It can be turned by 360° in the horizontal plane and by 90° vertically.

It's upon your choice whether you choose a fast manual pointing or if you use the geared fine controls. In both cases, the Triton Az gives a maximum of liberty to you.

The geared fine controls:
Point at your target coarse by moving the mount manually. Then, lock the axes and make a fine alignment to your target using the smooth worm gear knobs. Even with strong magnifications, you can point dead-on to all objects.

Technical details:

-- Alt-Azimuthal mount with coarse and fine controls (the latter with worm gears)
-- Fast coupling system (Prism rails optional)
-- Maximum load ca. 4 kg

Mount Review from a customer to the Triton AZ Mount - 16th June 2011

I purchased a TS-Optics TRITON ALT/AZ mount. The mount came with a set of legs, for the same price as the mount alone. The legs worked OK but using a telescope they proved to be a little bit too light.

I had a Skywatcher AZ-3 tripod/mount which has solid legs but the mount is not stable, especially over 30 degrees elevation.  I took the legs from the AZ-3 mount and fixed them to the TRITON head. I had to make two 1.5 mm rubber washers per mounting point to compensate for the difference in size of the TRITON mount and the AZ-3 legs. I tightened up the bolts to a good torque level. The results were amazing. With a Skywatcher 102/500 at 100 magnification the results were VERY stable - no shake at all. Next I mounted my Skywatcher 127/1500 MAK with a 5mm lens. This gives 300 magnification. Saturn was very stable and clear. Vibrations were very small and dissipated in less than one second. Great combination.

The well engineered TRITON mount is very smooth in both axis. Fingertip control, no limits (360 degree control)  and able to reach vertical with both scopes. Great engineering at a small price.

I have no commercial connection with TS. I am just a happy customer………………of the best company in the astronomy business.

Kind regards, Phil
