Moravian Ethernet Adapter for CCD Cameras from G0 to G4
The GX Camera Ethernet Adapter offers the possibility to connect your GX camera (model G0 to G4) to the PC via Ethernet. The TCP/IP protocol is used for this purpose. The adapter has 4 USB 2.0 ports. This allows you to connect 4 cameras to your PC at the same time via an Ethernet cable. The models G0 to G4 can be combined freely.

The GX CCD cameras are equipped with a USB 2.0 port. This offers many advantages, among others the high transfer speed of 480 Mbps, "Plug and Play" and the possibility to power end devices (G0 and G1 camera). The cables are standardized and cannot be connected incorrectly.

A disadvantage of USB is that the maximum cable length is limited to 5m. With so called active USB extensions you can extend the length to 15m, but you usually have to give up the power supply of the end device, because they are used for the amplifiers in the extension. The problem of using a GX camera over a longer distance is solved by the GX Camera Ethernet Adapter.

With its 1.8 GHz dual core Intel Atom processor and fanless design, the GX Camera Ethernet Adapter consumes less than 10 watts of power. There are no moving parts, which makes the GX Camera Ethernet Adapter robust, durable and insensitive to vibrations and shocks. Software is pre-installed on the built-in mSATA SSD.

The GX Camera Ethernet Adapter supports 1Gbit and 10/100Mbit networks. When connecting to a 1Gbit network, speed differences between directly connected cameras and cameras connected via Ethernet are almost imperceptible.

Connecting Cameras
The GX Camera Ethernet Adapter is not a simple USB /Ethernet converter that only sends the USB data over TCP/IP. Instead, the GX Camera Ethernet Adapter is a stand-alone PC that manages the connected cameras. From the camera´s point of view, there is therefore no difference whether it is connected directly to a PC or to the adapter.

From the user´s point of view, however, there is a big difference. A camera connected via USB is a completely different device than a camera connected via Ethernet. USB based drivers for software packages such as SIPS, ASCOM or Maxim DL cannot be used with Ethernet connected cameras. The GX Camera Ethernet Adapter is supported by SIPS version 2.2 and newer. For other software packages, special drivers for the GX Camera Ethernet Adapter are required.

Configuration
Any device that communicates over TCP/IP needs a fixed IP address so that it can always be reached on the network. The TCP/IP address of the GX Camera Ethernet Adapter can be easily set via any browser. At the first operation the following data are preset:
IP address: 192.168.0.5
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS server: 192.168.0.1
Port: 48899

To access the GX Camera Ethernet Adapter via the browser, the connected PC must be in the same network. Please make the necessary settings on your PC and then connect the GX Camera Ethernet Adapter to your PC via an Ethernet cable. Attention: The configuration utility is not accessible for 2 minutes after the GX Camera Ethernet Adapter has been switched on. This prevents unintentional changes during operation.
Supply voltage:8 to 19 volts DC
Power:8.5 watts (without camera), 17 watts with four G1 cameras
