Celestron Advanced Mount GoTo - CAM

The CAM is a very accurate and rugged GoTo Mount, for advanced observing and astrophotography. The CAM is mechanically very rugged and uses the same software which is used on the Celestron CGE mount.

In our opinion the GoTo controller of the CAM is one of the best and most userfriendly controllers on the market.

The CAM offers among other things:

-- PEC, Declination backlash compensation, Autoguiding ....

Important features of the mount:

Payload of the mount:	up to 12 kg (6" Refractor, 10" Newton, 9" Schmidt Cassgrain)
Tripod:	Massive tripod made of steel - bracing leads to more stiffness
Weight:	Weigh of equatorial head about 5.9 kg
Bearings of the axes:	Ball bearings - for more stiffness and accuracy
Telescope attachment:	Quick coupler - dovetail plates from Vixen, Celestron are compatible

Ball bearing in the worm wheels and axes - for more Accuracy and Stiffness:

It sounds like a bagatelle but it has a great effect - the CAM not only possesses ball bearings at the axes, there are also ball bearings at the worm wheels. This leads to additional stiffness and accuracy compared with a conventional friction bearing.

The tripod of the CAM:

The CAM will be delivered with a massive tripod for optimum stability. The tripod can be extended up to 140cm keeping full stability.

The Go To Controller of the CAM:

The CAM GoTo uses the proven NexStar Technology. This control unit has been proven for all intruments of the NexStar series.

40,000 object database including 400 user defined objects and extended information for over 200 objects.

Slewing speed up to 4° per second with powerful servo-motors

optional RS-232 computer interface

Upgradable for GPS - System ( calibration stars will be located automatically!)

Alignment modes: 2-Star & 3-Star alignment / quick alignment / auto alignment (GPS-Module necessary)

Autoguider adaptor for long exposures with automatic guiding

High pointing accuracy - also in case of inaccurate polar alignment- by 3 stars alignment

New: Now with adjustable slew speed - ideal for use in inhabited areas.
At maximum slew speed, the sound of the motors necessarily noticeable. With the new firm ware HC 4.20 and MC 5.20, the slew speed can be adjusted to slower values reducing the slewing noise to a level that is not disturbing even sensitive neighbours. The new function has the name "custom rate 9". The new firmware can be downloaded here for free.
