Dual axis motor drive for equatorial mounts

The DK-3 is a good dual axis motor drive for amateur astronomers who pay attention on precise tracking and may want to do astro photography.

DK-3 motor drive system

With the dual motor control, you can easily centre the objects in the middle of the field of view without touching the mount. This works also with high magnifications. With the three speeds availaible, this control is also suitable for astro photography.

The motors are mounted on the R.A. and Dec axis of the mount. The R.A. motor compensates for the earth's rotation from east to west.

As long as the motor is engaged, the objects stay in the field of view (when the mount is polar aligned).

The DK-3 advantage: very powerful motors:

The kit contains powerful and precise stepper motors. In opposite to easier systems, the motors have a metal case and low gear errors. The electrical connectors are not made of cheap plastic but of solid DIN plugs. The motors are comparable with the more expensive Vixen sets.

Manual coupling:

When the motors are installed you don't need to abandon the fast manual slewing. Both motors come together with a manual coupling - just loosen the knurled screw and you can adjust manually. As soon as the clutches are engaged again, the motor tracks.
