Description
TS Optics 10" f/5 Imaging Newtonian Telescope on Celestron CGEM GoTo Mount
... Aperture: 254mm / focal length: 1250mm / photographic speed: f/5 / 94% enhanced coating
... better mechanic and optic - optimized for astrophotography

TS Imaging Newton 10z auf CGEM

The 254/1250mm photo newtonian from GSO, made exclusive for Teleskop Service, offers an optimal base for high-resolution astro photography. Its fast f/5 system allows moderate exposure times and the 78mm secondary mirror illuminates even bigger sensors. Of course this telescope is also a recommended choice for those who are more into visual observation.

Advantages of the TS 254/1250 Imaging Newtonian:

-- fast f/5 system for moderate exposure times
-- very stable steel tube instead of wobbly aluminium tube
-- low secondary obstruction of approx. 30% causing low diffraction effects compared with SC or similar systems
-- free tube diameter of 290mm - no main mirror vignetting and lower tube seeing effects
-- integrated fan for fast temperature stabilization
-- improved MONORAIL focuser - superior to similar Crayford systems - with 1:10 dual speed transmission
-- enough back focus for DSLR cameras and off-axis-guiders
-- clampshells with threads for guiding scopes
-- mirror surfaces with enhanced reflectivity for better quantum efficience
-- precise diffraction-limited optic from GSO
-- bigger secondary optional for full size camera sensors
-- carbon tube upgrade possible

Monorail Auszug des TS Imaging Newtons

2" dual-speed MONORAIL focuser: The drawtube has 34mm (1.35") of travel and there is 80mm of back focus available from the top of the focuser’s 2" accessory holder to the image plane. The focuser has two easy to grip coarse focusing knobs. One knob also has a smaller concentric knob with 10:1 ratio reduction for fine focusing. This provides precise focus control for CCD imaging. A drawtube tension knob on the side of the focuser lets you adjust the drag on the focuser drawtube to suit various equipment loads while focusing. A second knob lets you lock in a precise photographic focus.

Fast cool-down time and easy collimation:

TS Imaging Newton Lüfter

The TS imaging newtonian is equipped with the proven metal nine-point mirror cell. Collimation is done with three black knurled screws and three counter screws. The relatively free situated main mirror and the 12V fan guarantee quick temperature stablilization.

Improved field illumination:

A manko of many Newtonian systems is a too narrow tube. The free aperture should be approx. 30mm wider than the main mirror diameter. At this telescope, the front baffle has a diameter of 290mm (36mm more than the main mirror) thus guaranteeing a non-vignetted field. This is a circumstance unfortunately forgotten by many competitors.

Technical details:

Aperture / focal length: 254mm / 1250mm
Secondary mirror 78 mm minor axis
OTA weight 15.5 kgs (with clampshells, focuser and 8x50 finder)
OTA diameter / length 303 mm / 1150 mm
Main mirror BK7, diffraction limited, with center mark for easier collimation
Focuser 2" MONORAIL w/1.25" reducer, brass clamping ring, 1:10 dual speed transmission
Limiting visual magnitude 14m7
Resolution 0.46"

The German equatorial mount CGEM by Celestron:

This mount can be used for astro photography with telescopes up to approx. 20 kgs. It is a still transporable solution and offers load capacity for accessories like guiding scopes, cameras etc.

Main features, beneath the good stability:
