Description
TS Optics 8" f/4 Imaging Newtonian - improved mechanical system for deep sky photography
powerful Newtonian Telescope optimized for astrophotography

TS 200mm f4 Imaging Newton

This 8" optical tube is a very fast focal ratio f/4 reflector that has been mechanically and optically designed for wide field deep space imaging. It can be used with DSLR's, web cams and light weight CCD cameras.
Advantages of the TS 200/800mm Imaging Newtonian:

-- Fast f/4 focal ratio for short integration times
-- 15 internal baffles for optimal contrast
-- 70mm secondary for good field illumination
-- Integrated fan for quick temperature equalization
-- 2" MONORAIL focuser with 1:10 dual speed transmission
-- Moderate weight (9.5 kgs with finder)
-- Clampshells with attachment option for guiding scopes
-- Improved reflectivity: approx. 95% (main & secondary mirror)
-- Generous back focus e.g. for coma correctors and off-axis-
guiders

Astro photography with the TS 8" f/4 Imaging Newtonian:

TS Monorail Focuser

2" dual-speed MONORAIL focuser: The drawtube has 34mm (1.35") of travel and there is 80mm of back focus available from the top of the focuser’s 2" accessory holder to the image plane. The focuser has two easy to grip coarse focusing knobs. One knob also has a smaller concentric knob with 10:1 ratio reduction for fine focusing. This provides precise focus control for CCD imaging. A drawtube tension knob on the side of the focuser lets you adjust the drag on the focuser drawtube to suit various equipment loads while focusing. A second knob lets you lock in a precise photographic focus.

Primary Mirror Cooling Fan

Instead of chosing exotic and incredibly expensive mirror substrates we have chosen to equip this telescope with a primary mirror cooling fan to accelerate cool-down time to ambient temperature. Until a mirror is properly cooled down it will create currents of warm air that will deteriorate the image - no matter which mirror substrate is used. Only after the mirror has cooled down this effect stops.

Parabolical Primary Mirror

The very precisely figured parabolical primary mirror of this telescope is not made of cheap float glass, but rather of BK-7 optical glass that is free of internal stress. Thermic properties are generally better than float glass. At the same time the mirror is way more affordable than more exotic primary mirror substrates that in our opinion bring hardly any advantage at all (see comments under "Primary Mirror Cooling Fan"). For easier collimation the mirrors are properly center marked.

Technical details of the optical tube:

-- Aperture 200mm (8") / focal length 800mm / photographic speed f/4
-- 94% enhanced reflectivity coatings for a brighter picture
-- Seconcary mirror: 70mm diameter (minor axis)
-- Field illumination: 25mm diam. (100%) / 38mm diam. (90%)
-- Weight: 8,7 kgs with tube rings and finder
-- Outer diameter: 230mm
-- Tube length: 730mm
-- 2" MONORAIL focuser with 1:10 dual speed transmission

Scope of delivery:

-- TS 200mm f/4 Imaging Newtonian - Optical Tube Assembly with tube rings
-- 8x50 finder
-- 2" MONORAIL focuser with 1:10 dual speed transmission and reducer to 1.25"
-- 2" extension tube - to achieve focus with all kinds of eyepieces
-- Dust covers
-- 12V main mirror fan
-- Collimation manual
