Parfocalizing ring & CCD locking ring for 1.25" accessories

This adaptor fits directly onto 1.25" barrels of eyepieces and adaptors. It can be locked in place with three slug screws.

The adaptor is usually used to create a firm stop at a position of your choice, for example if you wish to parfocalize your eyepieces, or if you want to have a repeating focus position for your camera.

A particular application will be the creation of a focus alignment eyepiece for astro imaging (see hands-on advice below)

The locking ring is locked in place with three metric slug screws. We have intentionally refrained from using thumbscrews since it is only necessary to do the setting one, whereas after that a thumbscrew would pose the risk of accidentally losing the alignment. Aside from that a thumbscrew is sometimes even in the way geometrically.

Recommended accessory:
By using the CCD locking ring the remainder of the 1.25" barrel of your eyepiece or adaptor might become too short to be practical. To solve this problem you can use the TSVF1 adaptor tube which is simply screwed into the 1.25" filter thread and then extends the barrel by 25mm.
Hands-on Advice from Teleskop-Service .. how to build your own focus alignment eyepiece:

Focus alignment eyepieces are an extremely helpful tool for astro imaging. With their help focusing can be done much quicker, especially on cameras without a optical finder, e.g. CCD cameras. You just insert an eyepiece that has the same back focus distance as the camera, focus the telescope on that eyepiece and insert the camera after that. The camera will then already be close to the optimum focus. Finding perfect focus will be much quicker and easier now.

To create a focusing eyepiece you can use a simple Kellner eyepiece. First find perfect focus with your CCD camera without the help of this eyepiece. Then remove the camera and insert the eyepiece with the CCD locking ring attached as far as possible on the top of the eyepiece barrel.

Then pull out the eyepiece until you have a focused image. Do not use the focuser of the telescope for this! Once the image on the eyepiece is focused move the CCD locking ring down until it hits the focuser and lock it onto the eyepiece barrel with the three locking screws.

Recommended accessories:
-- T2 to 1.25" adaptor (since most cameras are adapted through the T2 thread)
-- 1.25" screw-in barrel extension tube TSVF1
-- A suitable eyepiece, for example a Kellner
