Skywatcher GoTo Maksutov 90mm

The compact Maksutov of 90mm aperture is useful for nearly any application in amateur astronomy and nature observation. Being only 25cm long, it fits into air luggage and with his low weight it can be carried by compact mounts or photo tripods.

Observation
If you like spotting wildlife or stars in the sky, the Black-line Maksutov 90mm performes convincingly in nearly all fields. 90mm aperture collect enough light for several hundreds nebulae and galaxies. The image has no colour fringing and a high contrast - well suitable to watch the moon and planets with fine details. Under ideal conditions you can magnify up to nearly 200x.

The State-of-the-art GoTo mount has a huge object database with over 40,000 objects, including all planets of the solar system, many binary stars, gas nebulae, star clusters and galaxies. The mount will automatically locate the objects so you can concentrate on observing!

The Maksutov Cassegrainian System

A Maksutov Cassegrain offers an image quality near to a classical refractor, while being very compact. The image is much better than using a fast achromatic refractor of the same aperture which suffers colour fringing. A Maksutov Cassegrain as a reflector does not show this fringing.

On the other hand, a Maksutov Cassegrain is relatively "slow", as the focal length is with respect to its aperture quite high. Hence the strength of the instrument is the observation of moon and planets. It is also a good performer for stellar clusters, nebulae and galaxies but it does not offer a particular large field of view. Very extended objects as the Pleyades cannot be seen all at once.

Practical Feature: Quick Release System:

The Optical Tube can be removed from the mount in a matter of seconds by means of a quick release system. This is great for transportation, and in addition it allows you to use the telescope separately or on another mount.

GoTo Computerized Mount:
The single arm fork mount is equipped with a powerful GoTo system. Once set up and aligned you can automatically slew to any of the about 40,000 objects in the database. You can also directly enter coordinates to slwe to an object that is not in the database, e.g. a comet. Once the object is located the mount will automatically track the object and keep it in the center of the eyepiece.
