Description

GSO Newtonian - Aperture 254mm - focal length 1250mm - f/5 - OTA
... diffraction limited parabolic Newtonian - 94% enhanced coating

GSN 2541 10

Newtonian Telescopes by GSO are known for their solid craftmanship and the high optical quality. The robust mechanical system makes them especially suitable for photographical use. Even heavier cameras are supported by the all-metal Crayford focuser.

Fields of use for the GSN 2541:

Moon and Planets
... At good seeing conditions, the diffraction limited 10" Newtonian shows nearly everything that can be seen with earth-bound systems. Using high-resolution planetary cameras, only the theoretical resolution is the limiting factor. There is absolutely no false colour because of the pure mirror system. The moderate obstruction of 78 mm (ca. 30%) allows magnification up to 500x.

Deep sky observation...
For many amateur astronomers, 10" are the entrance for real Nebulae and Galaxy observation. This telescope is a good compromise between smaller scopes who show less detail and even bigger telescopes who are difficult to handle because of their weight and their measurements.

Astro photography... becomes more and more popular because of the "digital revolution". The metal tube is very robust, also the Crayford focuser with 1:10 micro transmission. It allows very accurate focusing and has enough back focus even for SLR cameras.

The GSN 2541's most important advantagees:

-- very good diffraction limited optics - above Chinese level
-- solid metal main- and secondary mirror cells - adjustable
-- thin secondary spider vanes for more contrast
-- 2" Crayford focuser with 1:10 micro transmission
-- enough back focus even for SLR cameras
-- solid craftmanship without compromising quality for low weight
-- metal clampshells with second thread e.g. for guiding scopes
-- with f/5, this model is a real allrounder with good performance for visual and also photographical use
-- main mirror fan for faster cool-down
-- 8x50 viewfinder with dovetail fast-coupling system
-- 94% encanced coating for a brighter image and shorter exposure times

The EQ-6 SkyScan German equatorial mount:

it carries the GSN2541 with good stability and allows slewing speeds up to 3.4°/s. The internal database with 13'400 objects and the ST-4 compatible autoguider port make this mount a good base for astro photography. Silent stepper motors and an illuminated polar viewfinder are standard.

Crayford focuser with micro transmissionThe 2" Crayford focuser with 1:10 micro transmission:

The focuser is an important part at any telescope. It has to allow fine focusing and must accept even heavy loads.

With the GSN2541, we deliver a precise metal focuser with micro transmission and robust ball bearings. Even with 3 kg payload, smooth focusing is possible.

The manual focusing precision is better than 0.08mm. This is good enough even for high-resolving CCD cameras.
