TS Rotation System - Multi-Purpose Adaptation:
This article is part of the TS Rotation System: An intelligent problem-solver based on classical adaptations, but with many extra functions. The Rotation System provides the adaptation from different telescope-side threads to different camera-side threads or bayonets with the additional function of providing 360° rotation and the provision for putting 2" filters inside with as little as possible required back focus.
Features and Advantages of the TS Rotation System:
-- 2" Adaptation: the two halves of the TS Rotation System connect using a 2" dovetail, which allows for a large number of possible variations. -- 2" Filter thread: between the two halves of the Rotation System you can fit standard 2" filters. -- 360° Rotation: you can rotate the camera or eyepiece until you get the desired orientation -- self-centering and secure grip: the 2" dovetail provides a self-centering and secure connection between the two parts of the rotation system. -- low profile: the Rotation System was designed for shortest possible required back focus while still providing space for the 2" filter inside.
Adaptor Diagram for the TS Rotation System:

On the left side you will find the telescope side adaptation. The adaptors are (from top to bottom):
T2-2s: T2 adaptation M42-2s: M42x1 adaptation (for example for Russian Tele Lenses) SC-2s: SC adaptation (for Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes from Celestron or Meade, as well as for several Maksutov- Cassegrains) M48-2L: M48x0,75 filter thread adaptation
A 2" filter can be screwed into the camera adaptor (right side, from top to bottom):
2-T2s: T2 adaptation 2-M42s: M42x1 Adaptation 2-SCs: SC adaptation (for SC accessories) 2-EOSs: EOS bayonet (direct adaptation of EOS DSLR cameras without vignetting caused by a standard T2 thread
Applications:
Rubinar 300 with the TS Rotation System - ready-to-go for astro imaging
A few of the many applications possible with the TS Rotation System:
-- Low Profile adaptation of 2" filters between an objective lens and a camera. The TS Rotation System allows you to use standard 2" filters with tele lenses like the Rubinar 300, 500 or the MTO 1000. You just need the Basic Adaptor M42 and one of the different camera adaptors. Of course the same is possible with tele lenses with T2 thread provided they have sufficient back focus distance.
-- Filter Adaptation and 360° Rotation for field flatteners and other image correctors. Many modern image correctors provide more back focus distance than previous models. For example, the TS Field Flattener provides over 100mm back focus. This allows you to place filters between the flattener and the camera and get a 360° rotation in addition. Also works with 0.63 focal reducers for SCTs.
-- Quick Release / Quick Changer - The 2" dovetail is a very convenient basis for quickly exchanging accessories without changing focus. You can switch between different cameras, or switch one camera conveniently between different lenses or telescopes.
-- Dust Protection for the Camera - You can leave the camera adaptor installed on the camera and use either a 2" filter and/or a 2" dustcap for dust protection of the camera.
-- Low Profile 2" Adaptation - The Rotation System works with a standard 2" clamp and a 2" dovetail, allowing you to combine the parts of the rotation system with many other adaptors on the market.
These are but a few of the hundreds of possible applications of the TS Rotation System - made for amateur astronomers, by amateur astronomers.
