The performance at the sky

The 130mm mirror collects enough light to show you several hundred galaxies, star clusters and nebulae. The Ring Nebula M57 in Lyra for example is easily recognized as a fuzzy ring of smoke and M13, the famous globular cluster in Hercules, can be resolved at its edge already..

A particular advantage is the short length of the instrument. With the TS Super Plössl 32mm (1,25" eyepiece) the observer can get a true field of view of about 2,6°. This is more than five times the apparent size of the full moon. Very impressive wide field observations of extended objects are possible. The precisely manufactured fast parabolic Newtonian system can also image the moon and planets with high contrast. In difference to Newtonians with built-in corrector lens (that causes image blur and colour fringing), the image in the AstroMaster 130EQ is very crisp and rich of contrast.
