TS Optics Skylight Filter for Schmidt Cassegrains

The TS Skylight filter has two functions:

Permanent Dust Protection:

Schmidt-Cassegrains and Maksutov Cassegrains are closed tubes which are protected from dust everywhere except at the rear where light exits the tube. The Skylight filter can be permanently installed here and will then prevent dust from entering the telescope. The filter itself has a hard coating which allows it to be cleaned without risk.

Improvement of Contrast for Imaging:

The Skylight filter transmits almost all light unhindered, however it blocks much of the UV and IR spectrum. In those parts of the spectrum telescopes are often not well corrected. As a result contrast for astro imaging will be improved when installing the Skylight filter. Visual observing will not be affected by the filter.

Specifications:

-- SC Thread (2" UNC-24) on both sides. You can screw the filter between two SC threaded accessories or on the back of the telescope.
-- Effective length: 14mm (not counting the male thread length)

Telescopes known to be compatible:

-- All Celestron and Meade Schmidt-Cassegrains
-- All Maksutov Cassegrains from Intes Micro and STF

Recommended Accessories:

-- 2" barrel. Allows you to use the filter on telescopes with 2" focuser
-- 2" accessory clamp. Allows you to use 2" accessories behind the filter.
