The 500/6.3 is a tele lens with a focal length of 500mm and a fixed focal ratio of f/6.3.

The tele has a robust metal body. The mechanical and optical quality are very good, which makes the tele the ideal alternative to modern but very expensive teles available from the major camera brands. At the same time the tele is much more compact than a lens tele of similar focal length, making it ideally suited for travelling and hiking.

The near focus distance is only 2m, which makes the tele well suited for taking photos of objects such as flowers, insects etc at high magnification.

Focusing is done manually. With a little practice this works very well. Many professional photographers prefer focusing manually because this allows for more user control and best possible results. The tele allows you to use the Aperture Priority function, or you can manually control the exposure time.

The greatest advantage of the Walimex Maksutov Tele is its extremely compact dimensions and low weight that is more similar to a regular tele with 135mm! At the same time the Tele has a fast focal ratio for short exposure times.

On most DSLR cameras with a crop factor of 1.6 the tele has an equivalent focal length of 800mm.

Compatible with all SLR cameras

The tele is compatible with all common SLR and DSLR cameras. You only need a camera-specific T2 adaptor ring. You can find the adaptor rings under "recommended accessories"
