The 500/8.0 is a tele lens with a focal length of 500mm and a fixed focal ratio of f/8. This comes in compact but robust metal body that is comparable in size with a regular tele lens of much shorter focal length. The mechanical and optical quality are very good, which makes the tele the ideal alternative to modern but very expensive teles available from the major camera brands.

The near focus distance is only 1.7m, which makes the tele well suited for taking photos of objects such as flowers, insects etc. at high magnification.

Focusing is done manually. With a little practice this works very well. Many professional photographers prefer focusing manually because this allows for more user control and best possible results.

On most DSLR cameras with a crop factor of 1.6 the tele has an equivalent focal length of 800mm.

Compatible with all SLR cameras

The tele is compatible with all common SLR and DSLR cameras. You only need a camera-specific T2 adaptor ring. You can find the adaptor ring under "recommended accessories".
